YOGA FOR EVERY BODY
About Via

Via Page, E-RYT 500, BASI CPI, teaches Yoga and Pilates classes, privates, and workshops, mostly in the South Bay of Los Angeles. Her yoga specialties are Yin Yoga, Yoga Tune Up®, Senior Yoga, and Chair Yoga. In 2003, she “semi-retired” into a busy career of teaching Yoga and Pilates, after many decades in the corporate world, including newspaper journalism, the practice of law, editing law books, and providing level-one technical support and then assisting Research and Development for a mid-sized internet company.

Via received her RYT 500 training from Cloud Nine Yoga in 2005, and Yin/Yang Yoga teacher certification with Sarah Powers in 2006. She has also trained with Yin Yoga Master Teachers, Paul Grilley, Paulie Zink, and students of Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama at the California Institute for Human Science. She certified as a Yoga Tune Up® teacher in 2009 and is currently working toward a certification in Yoga Therapy. She is completed a separate certification to teach Yoga Tune Up® Therapy Balls. In 2006, she certified with Liz Franklin to teach Yoga in Chairs.

Via guides her students into movement, stillness, awareness, and breath in a journey that explores, through yin-style long-held asanas, the connection of the physical movement in yoga and the movement of energy through the subtle body. Since her certification as a Yoga Tune Up® teacher in 2009, Via often combines Yin Yoga and Yoga Tune Up® formats in her classes and privates, dancing between the stillness and stretching of Yin and the more active playfulness of Yoga Tune Up®, which tunes up overused and underused body blind spots while improving posture and functional fitness. She loves the complement these two yoga styles are to one another. She also appreciates and incorporates the benefits of myofascial release, using YTU® therapy balls and foam rollers. She enjoys working with special populations including seniors, and persons with MS.

Via is currently in the production phases of a Yoga DVD, tentatively, titled “Yoga for Bones, Posture, and Balance,” which will present a sequence of yoga poses designed for students of all levels, including but not limited to seniors, who want to practice yoga to counteract the expected effects of aging, create functional fitness, and spend more time in the calming, healing side of the nervous system.

Via lives in Torrance in the midst of native plants and an organic vegetable garden and a deep-felt and daily gratitude for the grace that has given her the opportunity to practice yoga and make its teaching and benefits available to so many.
